About the Event
StrongHER® has partnered with Krav Oz to offer this uniquely-developed woman-led workshop that goes beyond teaching just the physical components of self-defense and approaches self-protection from the mindset of the attacker. This research-based seminar includes insights from law enforcement officers and mental health professionals that will help you be better able to, not only physically defend yourself, but to better predict and prevent violent encounters through a better understanding of predatory behavior.
The two-part seminar begins with an age-appropriate guided conversation that gives insight into an attacker mentality and developing our ability to recognize pre-attack indicators and predatory behaviors. Participants will leave with a simple model that they can use to evaluate behaviors and feel more confident in their ability to avoid and dissuade unwanted and predatory behavior.
Second, participants will learn the foundations of self-defense from striking and blocking to defenses for common grabs and attacks. In addition to learning individual techniques, you will have the chance to employ them in fun, challenging application drills that will have you asking for more!
Taught by a mental health professional, and Fit to Fight® Defensive Options Black Belt Instructor, Black Chantell Prestcott-Hollander, participants will have the opportunity to participate in our widely acclaimed program endorsed by several area universities, including Georgetown and American University where Chantell regularly teaches the principles of self-defense and self-protection to students, faculty, and staff. Chantell also works as a counselor at an all-girls school and has an abundance of experience in teaching young women. Have your daughters come prepared to learn and ready to have a great time training with other teens/tweens in this safe and welcoming environment.
Be sure to wear comfortable athletic attire to get the most out of this seminar!
