We believe that every individual and their story is just that: Individual and unique to them, therefore our approach should be individualized and unique to you. A one size fits all approach to mental health therapy doesn't make sense. We believe in the application of a variety of techniques and approaches depending on the issues you are looking to resolve, and often, there may be multiple approaches used. Ultimately we believe you are the expert on yourself and that we are the experts in psychology. When we combine that expertise, we can uncover strength and potential!
Our approach is client-centered and incorporates a variety of techniques: From; talk therapy, somatic body-centered therapy, as well as behavioral approaches such as; Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT) along with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), which asserts that our thoughts, or our stories, have a direct impact on our actions and behaviors. We espouse the belief that by directly challenging harmful or counterproductive thoughts that you can begin to see yourself, the world, and your place in it differently.
We also incorporate Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), which encourages you to embrace thoughts and feelings and explore them more fully. While easy to feel guilty with certain things, we can also have the tendency to allow the things we feel to stop us from engaging in experiences. ACT encourages people to embrace their thoughts and feelings by confronting thoughts, memories, and experiences that have been avoided. Instead of shying away from these feelings, we believe you can learn to understand them as appropriate responses that can motivate you in moving forward.
